Student Relationship Management

Student Relationship Management(SRM) is a specialization of the concept of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applied to academic institutions. SRM involves automating and synchronizing a number of different processes such as academic advising, counselling, and registration in a student-centric fashion. The principle goals are to improve the student experience, reduce dropout rates, and improve organizational efficiency.

Organizations that lack an SRM strategy may find it difficult to engage with students beyond the classroom. Information about a student is kept in many different locations, which makes it impossible for any single person to have a complete picture of a student’s interactions with the organization or for the organization to have a comprehensive view of the student academic experience. Students may experience a lack of coherence, resulting in a loss of confidence or trust in the academic system. The limitation of access to confidential information may be controlled in an ad-hoc fashion. Paper documents can be lost.
